The Cure For Your Robb Walsh Jones (Is Not More Cowbell)
If you've been missing our erstwhile food critic, Robb Walsh, and can't get enough of his daily musings on his blog, you're in for a treat.
In celebration of the release of his latest book, The Tex-Mex Grill and Backyard Barbacoa, the Houston Chowhounds are hosting a book release party on Sunday, May 16, at the West Alabama Ice House for Walsh, in which fans are invited to come out and mingle with the man himself. The book hits stores on May 10, which gives you time to buy your own copy to have Walsh sign. Alternately, you can simply hang out and pick his brain on taco trucks and cow heads over a meal of free fajitas and Saint Arnold's root beer.
The day prior to the book release party, Walsh will be the featured guest on Southbound Food, starting at 11 a.m. on AM 1560. He'll not only be discussing his newest book, but also his upcoming projects and -- most likely -- how he's been spending all of his newly acquired free time.
Can't make the cookout at West Alabama Ice House? Don't worry -- there's more ahead.
On May 22, Saint Arnold will be hosting their regular Saturday brewery tour with one minor exception: Robb will be there between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., signing books in the main hall (the one with all the beer, obviously). Unlike the event at the Ice House, however, this one will cost you $7. The good news is that for your $7, you get a "tour," a souvenir tasting glass and four tokens (about two beers, depending on how good-looking you are).
Both events will feature cookbooks for sale for $20, and both are cash-only.
