Sampler Plate: This Week In Food Blogs

Categories: Leftovers

Each week, we put together a sampler plate of the most interesting links from both local and national food blogs. Know a blog we should be paying particular attention to? Leave the address in the comments section below.

Robb Walsh: Our former food critic's latest book hit store shelves (and Amazon) this week. To celebrate the release of The Tex-Mex Grill and Backyard Barbacoa Cookbook, check out this video of Walsh in his kitchen -- which is utterly droolworthy and the envy of all who see it -- preparing good old taco truck salsa.

I'm Never Full: It's been a while (seven months, to be exact), but Jenny has returned to blogging with a vengeance. Check out this amazing post showing Jim Gossen's enormous crawfish cooking contraption, which can boil upwards of 5,000 pounds of crawfish an hour.

Guns and Tacos: Jay takes a look at Taqueria Maya Quiche, a taco truck on Washington Avenue that's turning out great food despite the continual influx of "hand models," the dandy new term we can all start using to replace the cliched "douchebags."

Houston Wok: David has an interview with the Tran Can Cook team, along with a recipe for some seriously delicious-sounding pineapple-fried rice. You won't need sweet and sour sauce for this dish.

Fork and Cork: It seems the New York Times's recent visit to Houston gave folks blogging fodder for days, and the Chronicle is no exception. Much as we did, they've created a list of restaurants they'd take out-of-towners, including favorites like Pierson's BBQ and The Breakfast Klub.
