Buy your tickets now for our annual Menu of Menus food and wine extravaganza on Tuesday, April 13! Trust us on this one: The tickets sell out fast, and you're doing a good thing for two worthy charities in Houston, as proceeds benefit the Center for Hearing and Speech as well as Discovery Green. Early admission tickets allow you to access the bounty of food and booze from more than 30 different Houston chefs and restaurants an hour earlier than the general admission tickets. The stampede begins at 7 p.m. at West Ave, but with those early admission tickets, you get in at 6 p.m. Tickets are $75 for early admission or $35/$45 at the door. Check out our slideshow from last year's event, and get your tastebuds primed for the party.
If you haven't been to the new Byrd's Market yet, you'll have an opportunity to acquaint yourself with the historic space and their upscale comfort food on Thursday, April 1, at its first-ever wine dinner. The meal will feature five courses with wine pairings for $59 a person. RSVP to Rusty at byrdsmarket.com.
In other wine events, Brenner's on the Bayou will be hosting an entire wine festival on Saturday, April 10, from 1 to 4 p.m. Take advantage of the lovely spring weather to sample wines from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Rhone, Alsace and the Loire Valley against their American counterparts in Napa (we really love this concept). Tickets are $65 a person in advance or $75 at the door and can be purchased online or by calling 713-868-4444.
This weekend, head over to Memorial Park and enjoy the over 300 artists who will have their work displayed at the annual Bayou City Art Festival. And while you're there, enjoy some culinary artistry as well. As with the downtown version of the festival, there will be wine cafes where you can relax and enjoy samples of vino, as well as the Epicurean Adventure area with live cooking demonstrations. Ticket are $10 (free for children under 12) and the festival runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
