Top 5 Best Easter Candies

Categories: Top Five

We all look forward to various seasons. For some it's crawfish, oyster, or softshell crab season. For others, it's barbecue season. For us, it's Easter candy season. After all, Easter candy is better than the candies of all other holidays combined. Oh we'll grant you that Halloween has some winners -- Christmas, too -- but none compare to the resurrection of joy that extends through the candy aisles from the day after Valentine's on through to early April. Here are our top five favorites.

5. M&M pastels
Okay, fine, they taste the same as regular M&Ms, but we can't resist the lovely pastel colors that accompany the change from Winter to Spring. Sue us. Whether you serve them in a candy dish, in a plastic Easter egg, or directly from the bag, these lil' guys are Marvelous & Majestic, and a-okay with us.

4. Chocolate Bunnies
The Easter classic has evolved over the years, and now you can procure bunnies in milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter, sugar-free, and more. And let's be honest, it's always fun to bring out the morbid side of Easter by giving a play-by-play of your chocolate bunny's grisly demise.

3. Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs
Like the M&M's listed above, this one is only a cosmetic difference from its regular, best-selling form, yet the egg-shaped PB&C concoction somehow tastes better than the everyday cup. We think it's the increased peanut butter-to-chocolate ratio. Hallelujah!

2. Jelly Beans
Chewy and sweet, these traditional Easter candies just don't get old for us. And while we don't dig 'em all year long, somehow they just taste better in March/April. You don't have to make that cake with the shredded coconut grass and jelly bean Easter eggs, but we highly recommend it.

1. Robin Eggs
A colorful hard candy shell lovingly wrapped around a malt ball center. Sometimes when we work a really long day, these become dinner. And we're not complaining. Because there's no better way to celebrate rebirth than by eating tiny candies that look like they could have been stolen out of the nest in your front yard.
