Sunday in River Oaks, Feeling Broke
We were sipping martinis at La Griglia in River Oaks this weekend before going to the River Oaks Theatre. Sitting on the patio, we could watch all the plastique boobs and rainmakers pull up. Who needs Jersey Shore when you have hot spots like this? They were serving apple martini's like was '04. 
After a couple drinks we got a little hungry, and it was still an hour before show time. We ordered a couple of appetizers, including a diver scallop dish with andouille sausage and saffron risotto, like miniature paella in a scallop shell. It was good, and so was the coconut cream pie. But the martinis were better.
We remember when we first came to Houston. There was a list of restaurants that everybody claimed was the best -- Mark's, La Colombe d'Or, Grotto and La Griglia. We have been to all of them and tried to avoid this place for as long as possible -- we made it nine years. But where else are you going to find a patio with martinis this close the theater?
