Sampler Plate: This Week In Food Blogs
Each week, we put together a sampler plate of the most interesting links from both local and national food blogs. Know a blog we should be paying particular attention to? Leave the address in the comments section below.
Not Eating Out in New York: While this isn't a local blog, we've quickly fallen in love with the concept behind this NYC-based blog: eating in every single night, preparing simple and hearty meals and saving money. These principles were recently tested with the bloggers traveled to Madison, Wisconsin. But they stuck to their guns and made meals for the entirety of their stay.
Zayt and Za'atar: Brigitte is back with a brand-new Arabic recipe this week: spaghetti with lamb. Two of our favorite comfort foods in the world in one dish? Genius.
Homesick Texan: Lisa has a recipe for ranch-style beans that will make you ashamed you ever bought those black cans from the grocery store.
H-Town Chow Down: Albert clues us into the newest restaurant to open its doors in The Woodlands' Market Square: 1252 Tapas Bar. Tapas seem like a good way to spend an hour or two before catching a show at Cynthia Woods Mitchell, and you know the folks in The Woodlands were just itching for yet another place to drop their cash.
Cook's Tour: Finally, Alison ups the Hemingway vibe a notch from last week (see Chris Reid's post on eating octopus in Greece) by describing a masterfully masculine meal of plov, an Uzbeki speciality. The photos alone are mouth-watering, and are inspiration to make your own central Asian feast at home (if you can find a cookbook to guide you...)
