Stopping in El Pupusodromo

We have always been a big fan of businesses that occupy old Taco Bell buildings. It seems like those adobe buildings with the arc windows in front are everywhere. They usually become other restaurants, but we have seen everything from a dentist office to donut shops move in.

El Pupusodromo on Renwick still has the old TB iron bars on its windows. We recently popped in and discovered they had some kick-ass pupusas. We love these little maize snacks. That and a beer is the perfect quick bite. We got a pupusa stuffed with pork and cheese and a Pilsner. We would not suggest eating more than three in a sitting because it will give you the trots. Maybe it is all the lard.

We could do a whole series of blogs about little hole-in-the-wall restaurants that dwell in former Taco Bells. Next will be Roadsters on Bissonnet.
