Last Organic Outpost took a vacant tract of land in the Fifth Ward and turned it into an urban farm. But don't believe me, go check it out at 711 North Emile St. And if you are interested in gardening or eating organic, this would be a good weekend for a visit. The Emile Street Community Farm will be hosting an Urban Farm Market with events for the whole family.

This is a great place to get advice about organic and urban farming. There's also an expert on foraging wild edible plants for you dandelion and lamb's quarter collectors to talk to. Recipes for what's growing in Houston gardens will be exchanged by the farmer chefs in the crowd. And there's a playground for the kids. Events will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Hot food and drinks will be available.

Dress warm and wear your rubber boots.
