Ed. Note: The comments section is now closed, as we have made our decision. Sofia Straus joins Melanie Tello as our second reader judge. Good luck to them both.

Last week, we chose Melanie Tello from a sea of 60 other worthy candidates to be one of our reader judges in this Sunday's much-anticipated Cupcake Smackdown at Block 7 Wine Company. This week, our food blog editor will choose the second and final judge. Do you think you have what it takes?

If you think you can stand to sample more than 20 cupcakes over the course of an afternoon, let us know in the comments section below. As with last time, keep it to 50 words or less. Bribes aren't accepted, but funny videos and pictures are. Make us laugh, and you might make the cut.

But even if you aren't chosen as a judge, come out to Block 7 this Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and watch the mayhem go down. We'll have pastry chef extraordinaires Jody Stevens (of Gravitas and Jodycakes), Rebecca Masson (consultant on menus such as Stella Sola and Canopy) and Ruben Ortega (of Hugo's) as our expert panel of judges. Meanwhile, the chef at Block 7 will be whipping up some fresh batches of cupcakes for guests to purchase, and we'll be holding drawings for some wicked door prizes that you won't want to miss. Plus, if you bring two non-perishable food items for the Houston Food Bank -- we'll be collecting cans at the door -- you'll get your very own limited-edition Eating Our Words T-shirt. And if you bring 10 cans (and sign up for our Cafe Bites newsletter -- a great source for Houston dining information -- if you haven't done so already), you'll get a fancy and functional Eating Our Words apron.

Get to it, readers. Let us see what you're made of.
