The Polo Empire

On a recent trip to Polo's Signature for some drinks at the bar, we were sent out some appetizers from the kitchen from Chef Adam, who previously worked for Mark Cox. We got a platter of crispy calamari slathered in sweet Italian cherry peppers with a meyer lemon aioli and an amazing oyster dish that wasn't even on the menu. It rocked. Props to chef Adam and his crew.

After a few whiskey cocktails, we walked through the main dining room and saw a painting of Polo. We found ourselves wondering, how arrogant do you have to be to have a painting of yourself, in a restaurant named after yourself?

Actually, the guy is really successful with several restaurants. People are very loyal to him, but...the painting says it all. In it, Polo is standing in some market holding up a vegetable, with a couple Hispanic women cowering below him.

If you don't go to Polo's for the good food, go to look at this painting. Tomorrow we're getting one made of us holding up a Miller High Life with a couple of cops cowering below us.
