Health Dept. Roundup: (Vaguely) Sports-Related Edition
This week on Health Department Roundup, we work up a sweat while getting dirty. Welcome to the (vaguely) sports-related edition.
Smokin J's, at 550 FM 1959, committed an unspecified ordinance violation in a January 20 inspection, while perhaps draining some jump shots. Huddle House, at 8619 Richmond Ave., also stepped afoul of an unspecified section of a city ordinance on January 15, while presumably whispering plays on the gridiron.
A January 19 inspection at Gerardo's Drive Inn, at 609 Patton, found the employee storage lockers located in an unapproved area, perhaps while the diners dribbled to the hoop.
ZSR Donut (11717 Katy Freeway) could easily be the name of a football play. That eatery was cited after a January 19 inspection for not keeping a wall or ceiling in good repair and for failing to have a convenient hand-washing sink available for employees in the food preparation or utensil-washing areas.
The worst vaguely sports-related offender, inspected January 17, was named after a defensive back. The Corner Food Store (8685 Hammerly) notched one unspecified violation -- and seven others. There was no hand-washing soap available at each sink, and the sink was not accessible to employees at all times. Also, the hand-washing sign, icon or poster was not posted or visible at all hand-washing sinks. The garbage and recycling cans stored outside were not kept covered when not in use. A wall or ceiling was not maintained in good repair, and the toilet room was not provided with at least one covered waste receptacle. Finally, the restaurant was guilty of operating without the person in charge of having in his possession a Food Service Manager's Certification.
