Double-Fisted Breakfast
Sometimes nothing nips a hangover in the butt like a Bloody Mary and some greasy eggs. On Saturdays and Sundays, Maria Selma on Richmond serves up some tasty egg combinations, and it has a full bar.
I have been to Maria's plenty of times for some potent margaritas and awesome ceviche, but until last Saturday I'd never tried the breakfast there. I sat at the bar and ordered a Dos XX on tap and a Bloody Mary. I think all the salt and lime licked my hangover.
The huevos motuleños -- two fried eggs with ham, jalapeños, tomatoes and onions for $7.50 -- looked good. I think "motuleños" just means "with beans," but it could be Yucatan for "hangover cure." A stack off Maria's thick homemade corn tortillas, and not only was my hangover gone, I was ready for a siesta. Thanks, Maria.
