Double Secret Hangover Cure

Categories: Recipes

The holiday season is upon us. How well are you prepared? Oh, we're not talking about stocking stuffers, travel tips, Christmas sweaters, and place settings. Let's take a minute to consider the oft-overlooked holiday thorn: the hangover.

Holidays are for hugs, happiness, and that low-down dirty shame that follows a long night of sucking down free cocktails next to previously unknown co-workers at the gossip-laden office bash. Yes, hangovers are a way of life for many revelers, yet we rarely think ahead. Will we never learn? Well, friends, gird your denial: This year, we're here to help.

After a long night of bourbon and eggnog, most folks like to settle the stomach with a juicy burger, and with these folks we cannot disagree. Hamburgers are nature's own cure -- as long as they come with a fountain Coke on the side -- but for the days you just can't make it out of the house, try our own home remedy: Spicy Rice with Egg. The road to recovery is paved with just five ingredients, and you likely have them on hand. Here's how it works.

Spicy Rice with Egg

  • Cook rice according to package directions.

  • Once complete, add generous amounts of Sriracha, soy sauce and Tony Chachere's to taste.

  • Top with a fried or poached egg, and stir to combine.

  • Mindlessly enjoy in front of your favorite infomercial or classic 90210 rerun.

  • This dish provides the carbs, protein, salt and spice you need to conquer the beast and face the day. After all, you've only got a few more hours before it's time to re-don your drinking shoes. Onward!
