Noodles You Need to Know About

I got a medium pho with steak and brisket at Pho Binh at 10815 Beechnut for lunch the other day. I was coming down with a cold and it worked at least as well as chicken soup. Pho Binh on Beechnut is located in a shopping center. It was the winner of Best Pho in the 2007 Houston Press Best of HoustonĀ® edition. But pho fanatics generally prefer the original Pho Binh location in a ramshackle trailer at 10928 Beamer in South Houston. Here's Jay Francis's video tour. There is a third Pho Binh at 2021 Mangum. The intensity of the broth and aromas of anise and other spices are Pho Binh's claim to fame. Others like a lighter broth, and some judge pho by the herb pile.

Since I wrote about how Houston is a "Tough Town for Noodles," I have been hearing a lot about outstanding places to eat pho here. Food in Houston thinks Pho Binh is neck and neck with Pho Danh and Thien An. Others contend Pho Nga on Milam and Pho Bon Phuong on Bellaire should be in the running. Any other noodles we need to know about?
