Peru Chanchamayo is a rare limited-production coffee that's on special this month during the 36th Anniversary of House of Coffee Beans, 2348 Bissonnet. The coffee comes from the sparsely populated Central Jungle of Peru and is certified organic, Fair Trade, and migratory bird-friendly. It is medium-roasted and has a clean, tart flavor and fabulous fruity aroma.

Founded in 1973, House of Coffee Beans was one of the first places where coffee lovers could buy whole beans in Houston. In the mid-1970s, the company bought an antique, pre-war German coffee roaster which was nicknamed "Madame Hasbean" and began roasting Old World-style in small, hand-tended batches. They buy from small growers who use sustainable, eco-aware practices and who can document that workers and growers are compensated according to Fair Trade principles.
