White linen is ruling the night this weekend, as the Heights throws its annual White Linen Night bash on Saturday, August 1. The free event is billed as "sultry, steamy, exotic, and artfully provocative" which is PR-speak for "come sweat your ass off during Houston's hottest time of the year." But there's fun to be had for the brave: Saint Arnold, Sweet Leaf Teas, Bacardi and Real Ale Brewing Company will be providing complimentary beverages during the street festival, which runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In addition, you can enjoy cocktails and nibbles from places like Boom Boom Room, Cedar Creek, Hickory Hollow and The Big Mamou. And because the venues are so spread out, this year will find pedicabs and free shuttle service (with a/c) for those who aren't the walking types.
The official pre-parties for White Linen Night will take place at Shade (from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.) and Glass Wall (from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.), where food and beverage stations will be available should you fail to properly shove enough food down your gullet at the actual event. Tickets are $45. Call ahead reserve your space.
Block 7 Wine Co. may only be in its soft opening stage right now, but that hasn't prevented it from scheduling a lineup of events running all the way up to its grand opening bash on the weekend of August 14. Included in those events is the official after-party for White Linen Nights, which runs from 10 p.m. until midnight. Admission is $28 and includes wine, cheese and live music. Tickets can be purchased for all of the parties online.
