This Week In Deliciousness

Wow. I'm actually intimidated... by a hamburger.

What's the first thing you'd like to hear about on a Monday? Personally, a great Monday morning, to me, is when you find out there's a new bar in town serving carefully crafted cocktails. Katharine Shilcutt interviewed the proprietors, and we all got thirsty just thinking about it. Next, Ms. Shilcutt let us know about the MDA Crawfish Boil and Music Festival going on this Saturday (hey, that's tomorrow!), which will benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association and Jerry's Kids. Congratulations to crawfish everywhere, for being the ugliest creatures to somehow be tasty.

Ms. Shilcutt also tipped us off to some fine recession dining, and filled us in on what happened to that Taco Cabana at Westheimer and Montrose (hint: hope you like smoothies!). Finally, congratulations go out to Bryan Caswell, who was just named one of Food & Wine's Best New Chefs of 2009. Mr. Caswell owns the popular Houston seafood restaurant REEF, and also Twitters. Hey, cool.

If you were on any kind of diet this week, then we apologize for Robb Walsh. He opened the week up with a step-by-step on how to make your own stuffed tenderloin cheeseburgers, praised BB's Cajun Café's invention of Tex-Mex poutine (salsa con queso features prominently), and finally filled us in on some great pan-fried dumplings (and a not-so-great buffet). You know what, screw your diet. We wouldn't have changed a thing.
