Pupusa Truck Invasion on South Post Oak
When did South Post Oak go Salvadorean? I counted three new pupucerias south of 90A, including this charming pupusa trailer near the intersection of Tidewater.
Hot off the grill, my queso and loroco pupusa was $1.90
A pupusa is a stuffed tortilla. My favorite combo is gooey queso and the tropical greens called loroco, although cheese and chicharonnes is the most popular filling.
The preferred condiment with pupusas is curtido, a chopped cabbage and chile slaw in vinegar. You get a little baggie full on the side.

Oh, man... You can't beat real pupusas. I was so disappointed when Taco Cabana started selling those nasty quesadilla-type things they called "pupusas." Yuck. Glad to see the pupusa trucks are still alive and well. :)
Posted On: Friday, May. 2 2008 @ 4:10PMthanks for the review robb, went by there today. the name on the truck now says Pupuceria Ramirez and it has moved a few blocks away to the Touch Down gas station near S. Post Oak and Willomine Way. the funky chicken can't be seen from the street.
also went to the taqueria yolis in the shell gas station parking lot at SRO and Brookston. the masa was a bit sweeter and it came with a pico heavy on onions (and a bland curtido). i liked the chicharron y queso pupusa better here b/c there was more cheese in it.
