Steroids and Roger Clemens: Legal Brief Says DNA a Done Deal

Thu Jul 03, 2008 at 03:50:53 PM

Yeah, I know I said I was on vacation, but as Al Pacino said in The Godfather: Part III: "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in."

This time, the thing pulling me back in is, of course, The Rocket. And I really should have spotted this sooner -- like on Tuesday when this legal brief was filed -- but I was too damn cheap to pay the Federal court filing system to get a look at the brief filed by Brian McNamee's attorneys in their attempt to get Rocket's defamation suit against McNamee dismissed.

In the brief, you will find these statements: The material handed over by Brian McNamee to the Feds "will test positive for Clemens's DNA." Also, according to Team McNamee, "Once the DNA results are revealed, there will be little dispute about who is telling the truth."

The Feds have been silent regarding the testing to the needles and bandages and gauze handed over to them by McNamee. And it's possible that McNamee's attorneys are just engaging in wishful thinking. But, unlike Team Rocket, Team McNamee has made very few errors in this matter. So it's my guess that they have been tipped as to what the Feds have found.

Now, that said, I mean it, I'm going on vacation.

Starting now.

Or there might be a post tomorrow about my favorite sports books.

But then that's it.

Because I've got to get to that place where nobody dared to go. -- John Royal

Ryan says:

Those syringes are not evidence that a jury would see. This is just a show trial at the expense of Roger Clemens and Brian McNamee.

Congress and Lawyers will win this one.
