Samuel L. Jackson Reading Go the F**K to Sleep Free Download for Father's Day
Oh, you completely forgot to get your dad/husband/uncle/grandpa/creepy brother-in-law something for Father's Day and you have little to no time to do so? Worry not grasshopper. Audible, the books-on-tape for the digital generation, is offering a free download of the now infamous children's book, Go the F**K To Sleep being read by none other than Mr. Samuel L. Jackson.
The book, which was written by Adam Mansbach and illustrated by Ricardo Cortés, is a tongue-and-cheek picture book from the perspective of an exasperated dad who just wants his kid to seriously go the F**K to sleep! Published originally by indie publishing house, Akashic Books out of Brooklyn, the book went viral because of its hilarious concept, eventually reaching No. 1 on Amazon.com's bestseller's list.
Jackson recorded the narration for the book in 2011 and people went nutso when he first performed it on the Letterman show.
"I remember all those times when I did read to my daughter when she was that age and everybody tells you reading stories will put kids to sleep, but it never works. It didn't in my house," said Samuel L. Jackson. "I did say "Go the F**k to sleep" to her a lot and I think at some point she would look at me when I would come into her room and she would say "go the f**k to sleep daddy?" and I would say "yeah, go the f**k to sleep."
For Father's Day, Audible is offering the book as a free download through June 15 at www.audible.com/sleep. Of course you have to download Audible and there's the catch, but whatever; free is free is free.
Happy Father's Day!
