Sin City Returns, Finally, in New Sin City: A Dame to Kill For Trailer

Sin City: A Dame to Kill For isn't exactly the Chinese Democracy of film, but for a while there it did start to feel like the movie may never be coming out. Pop quiz: how long has it been since a Sin City movie was in theaters?

It's been nearly 10 years, two awful Machete movies, and yet another Spy Kids flick since Robert Rodriguez first introduced us to the cinematic version of Sin City. Hyper stylized, Sin City was released way back before comic book movies were the juggernaut they are today; for reference, it was released a few months before Christopher Nolan changed the game with Batman Begins.

The original Sin City contained a whole bunch of solid actors doing their best noir impressions on digital sets. It was absurd, but it looked cool, had some memorable scenes, and started the great Mickey Rourke comeback that, in a nice bit of symmetry, died a firey death in another comic book movie, Marvel's grand misfire Iron Man 2.

The good news for Rourke and fans of Sin City is that he's back, which is kind of weird because he died in the first movie, but just go with it. Bruce Willis and Jessica Alba are also back for the sequel, joined by new to the series actors Eva Green and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who is probably not playing a younger Willis, sadly.

Also joining the cast is Josh Brolin, which is pretty clutch because he looks like a dude who should be bloody in a black and white film.

Will the film be any good? Hard to say. Rodriguez did direct those terrible Machete movies and Frank Miller did direct The Spirit, which a lot of people hated, so it's very possible this could be a total hot mess.

At least, judging by the trailer, it looks like Sin City, so if nothing else at least it'll hopefully be interesting to look at.
