Fashion and Football Play Nice for a Good Cause
Just when you thought I was done drawing connections between fashion and football, a gem of a story hits the press.

In January, Bloomingdales announced its partnership with the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and the NFL Foundation as part of their "Super Bowl XLVIII comes to New York" celebration. The three organizations joined forces to create a fundraising project that merged love of style and love of sport. They dubbed it Fashion Touchdown.
"Bloomingdales' New York Heritage combined with the fact that Super Bowl XLVIII is taking place in our back yard gives us an opportunity to merge fashion and sports in a modern way," said Frank Berman, Bloomingdale's executive vice president of marketing.
As part of the project, CFDA member designers created specialty football helmets fans - both of football and fashion - could bid on, with 100 percent of the net proceeds benefiting the NFL Foundation. Bids for helmets designed by the likes of Donna Karan, Rachel Zoe, Diane von Furstenberg and Toms designer Blake Mykoskie start at $248 with bidding open from January 15 until February 4.

Official bidding closed this Tuesday and let's just say Bloomies left much happier than the Broncos.
Who says fashion and football don't make great bedfellows?
