Alamo Drafthouse Offers Free Viewing of Gravity to Furloughed NASA Workers in Houston

Declaring that "NASA employees have been furloughed and need an activity!" the Houston area Alamo Drafhouse theaters are offering any NASA employee a free screening of of the movie Gravity in 2D or 3D.

The offer to check out the moview starring Sandra Bullock an dGeorge Clooney s good now through October 18.

In a press release sent out today:

"The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema Houston is delighted to host our hardworking NASA employees currently at home due to the government shutdown. Anyone who experienced GRAVITY this past weekend on the big screen no doubt has a heightened appreciation for the brave men and women who put their life on the line every time they take flight on a mission into space," said Neil Billingsley-Michaelsen, CEO of Triple Tap Ventures LLC, owner and operator of the Houston area Alamo Drafthouse Cinema theaters. "We are proud to invite NASA employees into our Space City theaters at Mason Park in Katy and the new Vintage Park location in northwest Houston to enjoy the heart-pounding cinematic experience that GRAVITY provides."

Here's how you qualify:

Tickets are available at the lobby box office with presentation of a NASA employee I.D., one ticket per employee. NASA employees are encouraged to arrive early to get their tickets and enjoy the custom pre-show created to compliment screenings of GRAVITY.
The Alamo Drafthouse Cinema allows admittance to children six and older when accompanied by an adult. A ticket must be picked up at the box office before entering the theater. Our "No Talking and No Texting" policy ensures an uninterrupted movie going experience.

This sounds like a nice at first, but how many NASA workers reside crosstown from their jobs? For those that also live in the Clear Lake area, this is a 100-mile round trip to watch a movie.
