"Issa-nother" Capsule Collection! Issa London Launching Pre-Fall 2013 Capsule Collection with Banana Republic
Oh, so you haven't had enough British Royal news yet? Well you're in luck, because Kate Middleton-favored label Issa London has announced the launch of a capsule collection with retailer Banana Republic, and the launch is just a scant week away! It's no secret that we love us some Kate Middleton Fashion (and even Foetus Fashion), so we are filing this under Big News.
Prince not included.
On August 8, shoppers who fancy a wardrobe like the Duchess of Cambridge can queue up at their favorite Banana Republic store to stock up on these one-off frocks, including a brilliant recreation of the famous blue silk wrap dress that Kate wore when she announced her engagement to Wills. (Still swooning!)
After reviewing some of the advance photos of the collection, we're positively gobsmacked; the pieces are quite smashing.
If you're looking for a Kate Middleton-inspired collection, you may be disappointed. The Issa/BR collaboration is instead "inspired by the safari roots of Banana Republic's heritage and the spirit of an exotic journey" and "marries modern femininity with relaxed chic." There are pieces one would expect to find hanging in Kate's closet--in addition to the blue silk wrap dupe, there are several other modest wrap dresses in various solid colors (red, green)--but the animal prints and color-blocked sweaters are far less Duchess-esque.
Instead, we see animal prints in neutral and jewel tones--earth tone and teal zebras, azure or orange leopards--mixed in with bold separates in rich reds, blues, and greens. The color blocked sweaters can be worn separately, or as twin-sets, and call to mind Michelle Obama rather than Kate Middleton. There are forty pieces in all, and includes accessories like leather-wrapped bangles, and gold chain necklaces and bracelets; prices range from $69.50-$150. ($39.50-$150 for accessories.)
This kimono-sleeved zebra print is a little racy for the Duchess, but perfect for your Saturday night date.
The styling of the garments in preview photos show the collection to be versatile, with an emphasis on moving outfits from day to evening by adding and subtracting jackets, tights, and accessories, as well as a quick change of a shoe or bag. A teal zebra dress may not be work-appropriate for all offices, but paired with a sweater or blazer, and worn over tights, it's a great look for more casual workplaces. Toss the tights and blazer at 5 p.m., switch out a tote for a clutch, and move on to drinks and dinner.
The collection launches at select Banana Republic locations on August 8, including the Houston Galleria; the collection will also be available online.
Bob's your uncle! Happy shopping, all!
