Stewart is taking a break to direct
Jon Stewart, you are such an old jokester. What is this we hear about you taking a break from The Daily Show to direct a movie? Very funny. Wait, what?

Yes, the news is true. Comedy Central just announced that Stewart will be taking a two-month hiatus beginning in June to focus on his upcoming movie, Rosewater. This will be Stewart's directorial debut and a triumphant return to the movies since his Academy Award winning role in Death to Smoochy (JK, that movie blew!).

Rosewater may seem un-Stewart of him; the movie, which he wrote, is based on the book, Then They Came for Me: A Family's Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival by Iranian journalist Maziar Bahari. Bahari was arrested and falsely imprisoned by the Iranian government in 2009. This happened soon after he was interviewed by The Daily Show's Jason Jones in Iran. Bahari was accused of being a spy, but was eventually freed. He told his story to Stewart in 2011 on The Daily Show which sparked the two men's relationship.

But what will become of the nation's most important news source? For the eight weeks that Stewart is off in the director's chair, John Oliver, one of the regular correspondents of the show, will be sitting in. Of all the longtime "journalists" on the show, Oliver is probably the best choice to fill the very big shows of Stewart. Rob Riggle is too insane, Wyatt Cenac is too angry (and not on the show anymore) and Jason Jones is too sarcastic. It might have been interesting if they got one of the old correspondents like Steve Carell or Stephen Colbert. Or perhaps (gasp) a woman such as Samantha Bee could have played host for a few weeks, but that would have been too Katie Couric and we all know what she does to night time ratings.

But since you are bored, why not give Comedy Central some other suggestions of who should fill in during Stewart's absence.

Brian WilliamsBrian Williams is way too busy to do this, but damn would he be the most perfect fill in. He is as smart as Stewart, if not smarter, he is devilishly funny when he wants to be (and handsome I might add), and like Stewart, he is from New Jersey and loves The Boss.

Chelsea HandlerAnother smart interviewer with a great following, Chelsea Handler might bring too much celebrity gossip to the news show but she would also bring some good stories about making out with 50 Cents. She has a new book coming out this fall so, hello, promotional tie-in, anyone?

Dennis MillerDennis Miller used to do the news on SNL so he is familiar with the news/punch line format and, plus, what the hell is he doing right now anyway?

Drew BarrymoreDid she just say that she was "inherently a young woman?"
Why should Drew Barrymore fill in for John Stewart for two months? Because it would be hilarious to watch Barrymore attempt to have an intelligent conversation with someone like Morgan Tsvangirai, Prime Minister of Zimbabwe, and not say something moronic about the healing power of daisies or something.

Alec BaldwinAnother person who just recently quit his day job and has free time, Baldwin is incredibly intelligent and a great interviewer. All joking aside, Baldwin would do an incredible job. If you don't believe me check out his radio show on WNYC.

Why don't they just get Amy Poehler and Tina Fey to step in and do what they do best?
