Top Gun Coming Back To Theaters This Weekend In Glorious 3D
This weekend you can finally see the Tony Scott-directed, Tom Cruise-starring Top Gun the way that it was intended by God, in glorious and majestic 3D quasi-IMAX. And three theaters here in Houston are showing it. 
Starting on Friday you can see the homoerotic Air Force adventure at Edwards Houston Marq*E Stadium 23, AMC First Colony 24, and AMC Gulf Pointe 30.

The film was remastered by the late Scott before his death last summer. It's been said that Scott was delighted to be able to finally do things with the movie that weren't even imaginable in 1986. The beach volleyball scenes promise to make both genders quiver all over again.
Early reviews of the rerelease say that the contrast between the spiffed-up aerial action and the talking heads is unnerving. But honestly, that's a foolish argument for such a cheesy film. Just let go, and enjoy Cruise when he was still fresh and not "clear".
I think what I am most excited about when it comes to this rerelease is hearing the soundtrack in massive, state-of-the-art surround sound. I have never heard Kenny Loggins' "Playing With The Boys" the way that Loggins intended.
Not to mention the raw sex of Berlin's "Take My Breath Away."
Don't worry though, if you miss Top Gun this weekend for whatever dumb reason, it's hitting the home market on 3D Blu-ray on February 19th.
