Internet Death Pools for 2013 Take Aim at Castro, Bush, Chavez and Charles Manson
How many times have you sat around a party or your workplace and opined about which celebrity would die next? Drug abuse and fast living get the gears running for pop culture's peanut gallery.
I know I spend most of my days wondering when Fidel Castro will die, and some of us are tasked with writing obituaries for people who aren't even dead yet, but maybe just ailing. As journalists, we also get really good at writing obits on the fly within seconds of a death announcement.
I didn't know I knew so much about the Monkees' Davy Jones, and almost everything I knew about him was flung out onto the Internet within minutes of TMZ announcing his death last February.
Part of me wonders if any of these aged celebs are actually playing these Internet death pools themselves and betting on themselves and their friends to die.
Here are the top names that the ghouls (okay, and a little from me) are gunning for in 2013 over on Stiffs.com, who already have Patti Page's passing on their homepage.
George H.W. Bush
Zsa Zsa Gabor
Dick Van Dyke
Olivia de Havilland
Little Jimmy Dickens
Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Pope Benedict XVI
