Pop Rocks: Just Let Yourself Get Fat Already, Jessica Simpson

Impregnate, rinse, repeat.
This is sort of the opposite of how it usually works this time of year, but whatever:

[Jessica Simpson] confirmed her second pregnancy on Christmas via photo. And although she won't stick to her diet plan now that she's in the family way again, she will continue to appear in ads for the brand.

"There have been no changes to our business agreement with Jessica," a rep for Weight Watchers told ABCNews.com. "Jessica's successful weight loss prior to becoming pregnant will be featured in Weight Watchers' new 'Expect Amazing' advertising campaign, including a spot with her sharing the happy news."

Hey, I'm quitting drinking for New Year's, but I'd still like to get paid to do ads for Ciroc vodka Oh, who am I kidding? I'm not cool enough to hang out with Diddy and ... Jesse Williams of Gray's Anatomy.

As with everything else, it's nice to be famous. Sure, Simpson received a lot of unwanted attention when she was dealing with the weight gain from her first pregnancy, especially compared to relative anonymity of the millions of other women who deal with the same thing.

But unlike those women, Simpson not only has her post-partum weight loss program provided FOC, but she also gets paid to be a spokesperson for Weight Watchers. It also probably takes some of the stress out of dieting when you have nannies to do things like, you know, waking up with your children and what not.

Going off a diet is understandable when pregnant -- not that you should be eating Twinkies like Al Powell's wife -- even if Simpson's Irish twins are going to make it even more difficult to bounce back into anything approaching her Dukes of Hazzard body, Weight Watchers or no.

Admittedly, Simpson wasn't best known for her already forgotten songs like "With You" or "Sweetest Sin, or for her apparently stalled movie career, but for her... other assets. It's understandable that she's interested in preserving that.

But maybe she shouldn't have to.

Simpson has a great opportunity here, and I'm being totally serious: rather than allow the media and everyone else with nothing better to do endlessly obsess over her BMI ups and downs, I think it'd be interesting if she just said, "fuck it" and let nature take its course. Am I mistaken in thinking that would be a pretty bold move, especially for someone more renowned for her D cups (or for her dad famously praising them)?

It's the 21st century, and while I hate to sound naive, maybe it's time we stop worrying about how Khloe Kardashian lost 10 pounds or whether or not Kate Middleton is anorexic. Then we can move on to the really important stuff, like whether or not Taylor Swift has found true love with Harry Styles.
