Thanks a Lot, Hurricane Sandy -- Violinist Augustin Hadelich Cancels Houston Symphony Appearance
There's good news and bad news about violinist Augustin Hadelich's scheduled performance for this weekend with the Houston Symphony. Bad news first -- Hadelich has canceled his appearance. We just got a note from the symphony saying that "due to the massive travel disruptions caused by Hurricane Sandy...violin soloist Augustin Hadelich is unable to travel to Houston."

Hadelich had been scheduled to perform Bartok's Violin Concerto No. 2.
Now for the good news -- HS concertmaster Frank Huang will fill in for Hadelich, performing the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto.
English conductor Alexander Shelley is still on the program. He'll be leading the orchestra in a performance of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5. At just 33 years old, Shelley has been causing quite a sensation since he was unanimously awarded first prize in the 2005 Leeds Conductors Competition (yes, you should be impressed).
