Next weekend the walls of the George R. Brown will transform into one of the largest contemporary art galleries in the Lone Star State. The Texas Contemporary Art Fair is coming to town and with it are collections from more than 50 galleries across the country, including familiar local exhibitors Moody Gallery, Sicardi Gallery, Wade Wilson Art and the Texas Gallery, among others.

The fair, produced by New York-based artMRKT, brings together a wide variety of internationally renowned modern and contemporary galleries, in addition to regional focuses, giving art lovers access to a blend of emerging talents and historically significant works. Fair director Max Fishko calls them like he sees them, stating that they chose Houston as a destination because it's "a vibrant, progressive, and extremely relevant market in the global art sphere."

Giving even more substance to the weekend's exhibition, special attention will be placed on the city's agenda of energy preservation and sustainability through partnerships with Houston's leading arts organizations such as Community Artists' Collective, DiverseWorks, Project Row Houses and The Orange Show. Additionally, there will be a host of discussions by featured artists and galleries, on-site tours, a video theater and performance by dance company Vault.

The CAMH Benefit Preview Party takes place 6 p.m. Thursday, October 20. The fair runs 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 21; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 22, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, October 23. George R.
