Check Out Trailer For Babushka, Film Co-Directed By A Rice University Student

Categories: Film and TV

Babushka is coming to Rice Cinema next week.
The trailer's up for Babushka, a film by Gabi Chennisi from Rice University and Abigail Hook from Harvard University.

What began as a summer trip to Kazakhstan for the college women turned into an in-depth exploration of five elderly babushkas (Russian for grandmothers) and the cultural isolation the women experience as refugees in Kazakhstan. In an interview with Art Attack, Chennisi said, "They have lived through one of the most difficult, violent periods of history, and their resilience is inspirational."

See the full-length film for free on April 26 at 7 p.m., Rice Cinema.
