Julie Jackson's take on the traditional sampler.
I'm a huge fan of kitsch and other general absurdity. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that one of my favorite sites is Etsy.com, providing both in ample supply. This week's fun find: twisted cross-stitch. Julie Jackson and Rachel McKay offer a unique take on the flowery, religious needlework of generations past.

Julie Jackson is the guru of crude cross-stitch. The artist began stitching surly sayings in 2003 as a release for pent up aggression towards a bad boss ("she once told me to make sure we had lots of film for the digital camera. Hellooooo?"). Now she's her own boss, and Jackson's book and note cards (sold at Urban Outfitters) have attracted a new audience to the craft. The artist sells the bulk of her goods through her websites and uses Etsy for discounted items and supplies. In 2007 she launched Kitty Wigs (yes, wigs for cats), which spawned Glamourpuss, a book of seriously funny feline photography.
